The sand and pebble beach at Lantivet Bay, between Polruan (near Fowey) and Polperro on the south Cornwall coast, is accessible only at low tide. Due to its remoteness and the difficulty of access, the beach is normally very quiet and is visited mainly by agile walkers.
Car parks can be found at Polruan, around 2 miles to the west of Lantivet Bay, and Lansallos, less than a mile to the north. Toilet facilities are provided at Polruan car park, but there are no facilities near the beach. Access to the beach is via the South West Coast Path or farmland, and ultimately a very difficult climb down from the cliff tops.
Holiday cottages in Polperro (3 miles from Lantivet Bay) provide self catering holiday accommodation in the area. Holiday cottages in Fowey (5 miles via the Bodinnick car ferry), Polruan (4 miles), Looe (7 miles) and Lostwithiel (9 miles) offer further accommodation options.
The neighbouring beach at Lansallos Cove is easier to access. The sea currents in Lantivet Bay are dangerous and unsuitable for swimming. Dogs are permitted on the beach.
